Factors Affecting Career Preparation Behavior of Nursing Students

Abstract
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identity the factors affecting career preparation behavior of nursing students and to investigate the effect of satisfaction in clinical practice and satisfaction in major on career preparation behavior.

Methods : The participants for this study were 162 nursing students. The data was collected from May 22, 2017 to May 30, 2017. The SPSS/WIN 20.0 program was used for t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis.

Results : The average score for career preparation behavior, satisfaction in major and satisfaction in clinical practice were 2.67, 3.88 and 3.33. There were positive corrections among career preparation behavior, satisfaction in major and satisfaction in clinical practice. 24.1% of career preparation behavior was predictively described(F£½15.15, p£¼.001) in the order of satisfaction in major(¥â£½.35, p£¼.001), school grades(B£«¥â£½.54, p£½.021, A¥â£½.51, p£½.011), and academic year(¥â£½.23, p£½.002).

Conclusion : It is necessary to encourage nursing students in their career behavior in a more positive way, nursing educational institutions will be required to make efforts to develop and enhance a curriculum covering a systematic career education and major, and also to map out a plan to identify its long-term effect.
